How do you make a design system useful to people who aren't designers?The Challenge
Google's gPS Tools and Business Intelligence team needed a visual language for presentations, tools, illustrations, and internal communications. People across the team had to be able to use it themselves.
The Idea
A continuous line connects people, ideas, and insights across the layouts. Organic shapes, characters, and icons give the system a friendly feel, while the line provides a simple way to tie everything together.
My Role
I led the visual development, creating backgrounds, icons, templates, and documentation. I also worked with an illustrator to develop the character and scene library.
The Outcome
A reusable toolkit with enough structure to keep the work connected and enough flexibility for different people, messages, and formats.
