What does a converged data platform look like?The Challenge
MapR brought many different types and sources of data together in one platform. The challenge was making that invisible, highly technical idea feel clear and immediately understandable.
The Idea
Turn a messy mix of data into one clear picture. Individual blocks and fragments come together to reveal a complete image, creating an almost Mondrian-like grid. The structure became a simple visual metaphor for convergence: separate pieces becoming more useful when they can finally be seen together.
My Role
I developed the visual concept and graphic language, including the grid system, image treatments, typography, and overall art direction. I then carried the system across a range of applications, from brochures and digital materials to large billboards.
The Outcome
A flexible visual system that made the idea of convergence visible. It simplified a complicated technology story and gave MapR a recognizable way to communicate across different messages, formats, and scales.
